The use of a motion capture system makes it possible to record human movement for further analysis. Its synchronization with the treadmill and the other components that make up CAREN, allows the treadmill's speed to be automatically matched to the patient's gait or running.

CAREN, initially used for rehabilitation and therapy of soldiers, then found application in more medical fields. Currently, it is used to support treatment and rehabilitation processes in physiotherapy, neurology, orthopedics and psychiatry.

The CAREN platform results in detailed data including motion trajectories of individual joints, kinetic and kinematic parameters such as forces acting in the joints, moments, powers and angles, as well as reactions of the ground on which the patient moves or data on natural gait speed.

Equipment:

  • Treadmill with a maximum speed of up to 5 m/s
  • 3 synchronized video cameras for reference
  • 16-channel wireless EMG
  • GRF pressure plates over the entire raceway surface
  • Ropes, harnesses and a light gate at the end of the treadmill for complete patient safety

CAREN test result:

A .PDF REPORT containing angles in the medical planes for selected joints, EMG data, GRF data.
In the report, data are superimposed on graphs and can be assimilated to standards recognized by the medical community, consecutive trials of a given exercise for the same patient, or tests of other patients.

.C3D file containing motion capture marker positions, joint angles/powers/forces/moments, EMG data, GRF data
Ability to export more data as a .csv file
